Navigating The Complex Veteran's Administration

Applying for Aid and Attendance (A&A) benefits involves a detailed and meticulous process to ensure veterans and their surviving spouses receive the financial support they need for daily living assistance. The application process begins with confirming eligibility, which requires the veteran to have served at least 90 days of active duty, including one day during a wartime period, and meet certain medical and financial criteria.

Applicants need to provide a copy of the veteran’s military discharge papers (DD-214), medical records demonstrating the need for daily assistance, and financial documents outlining income and assets. It’s also essential to complete VA Form 21-2680, the Examination for Housebound Status or Permanent Need for Regular Aid and Attendance, which must be filled out by a licensed physician.

Once all documentation is collected by My VA Helper, we submit the completed package to the VA Pension Management Center for you and oversee the case from that point forward. The review process can take several months, during which the VA may request additional information or clarification.
